16oz. beer cup upgrade to 38oz. sapporo beer combo!

16oz. beer cups are great, but if you want to give you plants more root room you might want to extend it. i was looking at some tree pots online, they were kind of expensive, after a couple bowls i started thinking of sapporo cans, how the bottom is just like a can of soup, you can take it off with a can opener easily. it just so happens that it is the perfect size for most 16oz. plastic beer cups to fit into! i just put this plant into flower, i wanted to give it some room for the upcoming stretch!

here we go! first get a razor blade, we need to cut out part of the bottom of the beer cup like this

here are the roots!

now lets fill up our sapporo can, my medium is mostly fox farms ocean forest soil, there is some extra perlite and some fine powdered cocoa as well, use what you got!

place the 16oz. beer cup into the sapporo can, not all beer cups are created equally, this particular one isn't as tight as the last beer cup that i used was, i am using some duct tape on this one to help out

this yellow 16oz. plastic beer cup is slightly larger at the base,it was very difficult to cram the bottom in, i had to very slowly work my fingers around the bottom pressing it down into the opening on the sapporo can, once in the fit was extremely tight, absolutely no need for supplemental tape on this one!

smokefrogg's grow, abandoning beer cups for sapporo cans

vegging it up

you all need a haircut, also let's take some clones

i was gifted this petrolia headstash cut, i made 2 clones from her lower branches today, after they hang out rooting for a week 1 clone will go to a caregiver, the other will become a mother, the plant pictured here will go into the flowering cabinet....this thing is big and happy for being in such a small container, it is filled with coco, maybe i should start using coco instead of soil for my beer cup/sapporo can grows, pretty impressive imho

the plan is the same as above with this gifted sour diesel cut

this originated from a bag of herb acquired at one of the hollywood area dispensaries, the herb was being sold as acapulco gold, this was from the second batch that the dispensary received, nowhere near as potent as the first, i'm guessing because it was heavily seeded, i divided the bagseed between myself and a caregiver, all of mine died, the caregiver was able to get 1 to make it out of her seeds, fortunately for us all it turned out to be female, thank you miss caregiver for the cut! we took 2 clones from this plant today as well, she will be going into the flower room in about a week

spice of life seeds blue satellite #2.2, acquired through the most awesome seedbay.com

3 days out of the cloning chamber clones from world of seeds columbian gold, so far the cut we have of this in flowering doesn't seem to be at all a real columbian gold, whatever it is it sure gets frosty quick and has an amazingly smooth taste, the bag appeal is awesome as well with the reddish/purple colours that come out

intermission time

here's the flower cabinet

here it is with flash

thai flowering for 15 days

world of seeds columbian gold flowering for 52 days

bagseed acapulco gold flowering for 52 days

this tall lanky thing is either an og or a bubba of some kind or another, the seeds were gifted to me, all of the others died, the person that gifted them to me also had a hard time getting any to grow, this thing vegetated for 70 days and got no taller than 4 inches, i was about to cull it but decided to let it sit in the flower box in an empty corner for a week or so to see what happened, this thing quadrupled + in size! it has been flowering for 39 days and really just taking it's sweet time

this beer cup thai looks like ass, it has been flowering for 95 days

oaksterdam blue dream flowering for 44 days, i gave it a nice dose of fish emulsion stuff today, it needs a bit more love

these are ic mag beer cup challenge shots, afghani x lowryder #2 flowering for 64~65 days

here are 2 more afghani x lowryder #2 plants, neither have shown sex yet, hoping for a male! these are the 5th and 6th beans of the afghani x lowryder #2 i was gifted and so far i have had zero males! i want to do a seed run of these, i want a few hundred so i can pretend i'm jonny appleseed! ;) these were planted into a 16oz. beer cup, the bottom was later cut out and the beer cup fitted into a 22oz. sapporo beer can, love those sapporo beer cans! you know it would cost about as much for me to order a small quantity of tall tree pots i found online that match the dimensions and capacity, might as well get beer along with it!

oaksterdam blue dream @ 5 weeks flowering

here's the beer cup challenge girls at 56~57 days of growth, afghani mother doused with lowryder #2 pollen, lol notice the lack of trichomes

i don't want to do thai anymore in beer cups, here's 1 of the last beer cup thais @ 86 days flowering

here's the other last beer cup thai also @ 86 days flowering

okay this is the smallest pot i'll run a thai in, here's a thai that used to be a mother, it vegetated for 131 days and gave me several clones, today it is @ 5 days flowering, the pot it is in is 1.75 gallons, she was transplanted from a 16oz. beer right before flowering

here's the veg area, super crowded! i added another 6700k cfl in the middle, we have 3 blue satellites planted in the saporro cans, we have 4 clones cut from that world of seeds faux columbian gold kicking it in the white grocery bag to the bottom right, 9 thai clones 1 of which will become a new mother, 1 oaksterdam blue dream clone that is destined to be a mother, 1 acapulco gold from bagseed mother (depending on how her sister turns out, will determine this mother's fate!)

lastly here is a shot of some trader joe's paper grocery bags, i like to put them on top of the flower cabinet and dry herbs in them hanging off of a plastic hangar, works for me so far!
